Over 900 Chord diagrams show the notes, degrees and fingering for all shapes along the fingerboard. Chords are constructed in any key from basic Major, Minor, Diminished, Augmented, or Seventh shapes then Extensions and Altered Notes can be added. Root notes are shown along with the other degrees in each Chord or Scale. This is shown graphically, as you change or build up Chords, with the names of notes or degrees as required. All positions are shown using the "CAGED" system. Inversions for 7, M7, m7 and dim7 "Drop" chords can be selected and 3rd, 5th or 7th Bass notes for "Slash" chords can be shown.

Scales of different types are available, including Modes and Relative Modes, and notes, degrees or fingering at different points on the fingerboard are shown in any key, using the"CAGED" system. Standard or alternate vertical fingering (across the fingerboard) or horizontal fingering (along the fingerboard) are included.

Scale-Chords are now included to help select chords for song writing, improvisation, key changes and modulation in any key. Major Scale-Chords are contrasted with Modal (including the Natural minor, i.e., Aeolian), Melodic and Harmonic minor Scale Chords, as well as Dominant Sevenths and Diminished Chords for each degree of the scale.

To hear the effect of changes, the fingerboard can be played with individual notes, Chords, Arpeggios, or automatically in different Strum rhythms and fingerstyles, which are also indicated on the fingerboard as the chords or scales are playing. Tempo can be adjusted as required. Arpeggios can be played up or down the chord or scale, in sequences or intervals, or at random.

Instruments can be changed at anytime by choosing from high quality samples of all 128 Midi Instruments for Chords, Scales and Songs, and in Percussion mode, all 53 Midi percussion sounds.

Different Drum styles are available, from a simple Metronome to a full 12 Bar Blues sequence. Drum and Strum styles are editable, and can also be saved or loaded, using a simple, easy to use "drum machine".

Context-sensititive Help information is available at any time at a touch of the screen.

Having explored the possibilities of Chord and Scale generation, it is also possible to Record, Save, Load, Edit and Playback Chord Sequences, Melodies, or even a Solo in quantised time. Collections of Songs can be saved and loaded. Melodies are played back with Tab notation and most musical symbols can be incorporated when entering music on the built-in editor. Chord sequences are played back with Strum styles, which can be changed during playback.

Turn your Android smartphone into a powerful tool for measuring the Impulse Response of audio systems.

This app will only be of interest to those who understand what an Impulse Response is!

The app generates an MLS signal from the speaker (or headset jack) and records it via the microphone, and then calculates the response of the system as a function of frequency and as a time series. The MLS signal is an alternative method to the usual sine wave sweeps, and in many ways superior.

The IR can be saved as a 44.1kHz 16bit Mono WAV file for use with third party tools such as Voxengo that use Impulse Response data.

The display shows the realtime spectral response together with the derived impulse signal as well as the step function. The spectrum can be shown in 1/1, 1/3 or 1/6 ISO octave bands, or in full pixel resolution. Another display shows the Phase of the impulse response as a function of frequency: the phase is unwrapped. The level (dB), frequency (HZ) can be adjusted via the Menu. An automatic time window feature homes in on the time region around the impulse - the duration of the window can be adjusted via the Menu.

The impulse and phase signal can be averaged, if desired. Spectrum response as well as the time series of the impulse response data can be saved in a file to the SD card for later retrieval, or offline processing (the files are simple text files easily imported into e.g. Excel), and shown alongside the realtime spectrum data.

To test the response of audio equipment, the MLS signal may be fed into its Line In input via a cable attached to the phone's headset jack. If a higher quality external microphone is to be used it can easily be attached using a Y breakout connector in the headset jack.

The MLS (Maximum Length Sequence) signal is much better than a simple pulse signal in that it has a greater power density and thus causes the equipment under test to operate in a more usual regime by exciting the whole frequency spectrum at once. This app uses a Fast Hadamard Transform to calculate the necessary convolution of the recorded signal with the MLS in order to extract the impulse response of the system.
